Uranus Station Upsets Democratic Convention

The changes and challenges of this convention began a day early with the forced resignation of the DNC chairman due to adverse emails that were suddenly released.  These emails confirmed what Bernie and his followers suspected all along, namely that the DNC was actively working to advance Hillary's campaign and trip up Bernie's.

The official convention began today, July 25, at 4:19 PM in Philadelphia, PA.  The main astrology feature this week is a stationary Uranus in Aries, exact on Friday.  These stations are quite powerful in that their influence begins a couple of weeks out and then builds up in intensity until the exact date is reached.  In this case, it will be this Friday, July 29.  Then the influence gradually subsides.  Uranus is the planet of change and upheaval.  It is in the 5th house of the Convention chart, conjunct the Moon and trine Mercury. This denotes a family/team coming together under unsettling and changeable circumstances.  Mercury in Leo wants abundant self-expression.  Sanders delegates booed at Bernie when he asked them to support Hillary.  They also staged protest marches around the convention and no doubt we will be hearing them loud and clear throughout the proceedings. Uranus forms a powerful yod aspect with Jupiter and Mars, indicating the many adjustments that will need to be made during this week.  Mars in Scorpio in the Convention's 12th house shows the DNC secrets that are now coming out into the open. What more is to come?  I heard that two more email releases are planned.  Stay tuned.

Amanda Knox is Released by Neptune Grand Trine

After many reversals, Amanda Knox finally received a not guilty verdict from Italy's highest court last Friday, March 27.  This signified the end of a long eight-year battle that included a four-year imprisonment in Perugia, Italy. Since this was the same court that previously found Amanda guilty, this was quite an unexpected ruling, though it brought a great relief to Amanda and her family.

A look at Amanda's current planetary cycles reveals what led to this unexpected good fortune.  Venus, one of the benefic planets in astrology, is now very prominent in Amanda's progressed chart. This indicates winning love and compassion from others. She is now seen in a new, more favorable light by the public. Her chart features a transiting nodal conjunction in Libra, the sign of relationships, along with a Sun/Moon alignment. Amanda has also become engaged to a former childhood friend. The April 4 lunar eclipse was aligned with Amanda's Libra South Node.  These cycles all indicate that Amanda is in a significant turning point in her life.

Amanda's natal Sun in Cancer also received challenging aspects from the transiting Uranus/Pluto square, which made its last exact aspect a few weeks ago. This aspect, which began in 2012, likely prevented Amanda from winning her freedom until now. However, I believe it was transiting Neptune in Pisces that made her good fortune a reality.  Neptune made a favorable water grand trine with Amanda's Mercury/Venus and Pluto(Scorpio), which brought the grace that led to her finally being exonerated.  This spiritual aspect also shows that a lot of people believed in Amanda's innocence, and were supporting and praying for her.  This support was powerful enough to strengthen the more subtle Neptune energy. In addition, transiting Jupiter conjunct Amanda's progressed Sun in her 4th house also brought an expansion of her good fortune.  The tide was definitely in her favor.

Finally, I looked at Amanda's astrolocality lines for Italy. The town of Perugia, IT is near Amanda's Chiron and Uranus latitude lines.  Uranus can bring sudden, chaotic changes, which was certainly the case for her stay there.  Chiron is known as the wounded healer.  Amanda's life will certainly never be the same because of her imprisonment.  She is said to want to return to Italy to write a book about Italy's legal system.  This could be a way for her to return to the scene of her woundedness as an act of bringing healing and wholeness back into her life.

Uranus/Pluto Energizes Olympic Win

The US Olympic ice dancing team of Charlie White and Meryl Davis won the gold medal this year for their near perfect ice skating performance.  On February 17, 2014 they won with the highest score ever achieved for ice dancing.  It was truly a breathtaking performance, which was quite remarkable since it was done under a Mercury retrograde.  There were many spills and accidents taken by other competitors at the Olympics prior to the couple's appearance.
How were they able to override Mercury retrograde to achieve near perfection?  One reason can be found in Charlie's chart, as his own natal Mercury in Scorpio is also retrograde.  It is said that individuals who have natal Mercury retrograde are the least affected by the retrograde cycle.  Another surprise is that both their charts were impacted by the transiting cardinal grand cross that has increased its influence in our skies over the past several months.  This influence will climax around April 20, 2014.
Transiting Uranus was in a challenging exact square aspect to Meryl's Sun in Capricorn and Charlie's Mars in Libra on this fateful day, while transiting Jupiter was opposing Meryl's Sun and squaring Charlie's Mars. Transiting Pluto was conjunct Meryl's Sun and square to Charlie's Mars. The fourth leg of transiting Mars was out of orb that day.  These aspects would normally make one accident-prone or vulnerable to sudden unexpected changes. However, this couple's win is an example of how we can harness and use the energies of this intense planetary pattern to achieve our greater good.  Perhaps it was Jupiter in Cancer's harmonious trine to Charlie's five Scorpio planets that helped carry the day for them.  Meryl's Pluto in Scorpio was also being trined by that Jupiter. This Olympic win was the crowning achievement of their seventeen years of training.  Scorpio is the sign of self-mastery and the intense emotional/mental focus that brought them a deserved gold medal.
The latest new adventure for this couple will be competing against each other on the TV show Dancing With the Stars.  This should be very interesting to watch. I'll bet their training will take them quite far so that one of them actually wins the trophy.

Astrology Report for June

June is a moderately active month, highlighted by the retrograde stations of Neptune, Chiron and Mercury. The ongoing trine aspect between Saturn and Neptune can provide practical expression for our dreams and visions, which is further emphasized by three creative, sensitive water grand trines.  The Sun and Jupiter’s entry into Cancer later in the month brings focus to home, security issues and our emotional/feeling awareness.
On June 3, the first water grand trine occurs between Mercury in Cancer, Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces.  This sensitive combination has the potential to bring form and organization for our creative ideas and spiritual ideals. Communication of feelings in relationships can be better received and understood during these few days.
The combined planetary forces on June 6-8 contain both challenges and opportunities. Neptune turns stationary retrograde on June 7, which increases our sensitivity, but also a tendency towards deception or indecision. This theme is reinforced by difficult aspects between Mars, Saturn and Neptune. The Mercury opposition to Pluto can bring deeper communications, but also disagreements. This same day features the second water grand trine of Venus, Saturn and Neptune, which brings opportunities to create greater emotional rapport, love and harmony. This is not the best day for accomplishment, but rather to focus on being more heart-centered.
The New Moon occurs on June 8 at 18 Gemini. It is widely aligned with Jupiter in Gemini, which brings focus to learning and teaching, along with awareness of perception, beliefs, ideas and higher visions. It has been said that we teach what we need to learn.  This is a good month to examine how we form our beliefs, as well as our sources of information. This month may also require us to be more flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.  The Sabian symbol for this degree, “A large archaic volume reveals a traditional wisdom,” suggests that we all have deeper sources of wisdom that can be tapped into when needed.
On June 11, a t-square forms between Venus, Uranus and Pluto that could prove to be a challenging time for relationships.  However, on this same day a trine occurs between Saturn and Neptune that can help to restore harmony. This is the second of three trines, with the first occurring last October and the third to occur in mid-July.  This aspect allows us to get in touch with and manifest our highest visions.  Saturn provides the organization and structure, while Neptune brings compassion, along with intuitive awareness and grace.
Chiron in Pisces turns stationary retrograde on June 16.  Old emotional wounds that haven’t healed can emerge now.  Now our wounded healer awareness can allow us to give and receive support from others.  On June 19, the Sun aligns with Jupiter in Gemini, expanding our world of ideas and providing a generous and optimistic feeling.  This carries over to the Summer Solstice on June 20. The Sun now enters Cancer, which shifts our focus to family, home and security concerns.
The Full Moon occurs on June 23 at 2 Capricorn.  Capricorn themes suggest tradition and authority, along with being organized, thorough and responsible.  This is a favorable period for reviewing our goals and making practical, realistic adjustments. It opposes Jupiter and widely aligns with Pluto, which reminds us to focus and review our original visions and ideals. Are we aiming too high or too low?  The Sabian symbols for these degrees speak to the need to overcome stagnation and a yearning for increasing the scope and depth of one’s contacts with other living beings.
On June 25, Jupiter enters the sign Cancer, where it will travel until July 2014.  During this period, we can expand our views in the areas of home, family, food and feminine energy.  Jupiter was last in Cancer from July 2001 to August 2002.  A statement or project begun back then can be expanded at this time. Greater awareness and resolution can also emerge for food safety issues.
Mercury in Cancer turns stationary retrograde on June 26, and travels backward in Cancer until July 20. During this period, we will be reviewing our attunement to feeling awareness in our communications with self and others. Unfinished business with family and security issues can come up now. On this same day, the third water grand trine occurs with the Sun, Saturn and Neptune, which will facilitate the process of greater attunement to the feminine, heart-centered and highly sensitive energies.
July brings more water grand trine patterns.  Blessings for a great summer!

Astrology Report for May

Astrology Report for May
By Dorene Carrel

Astrology Report By Dorene is part of the monthly Planet Alert mailings.

May is highlighted by a solar eclipse in Taurus and lunar eclipse in Sagittarius.  Eclipses intensify new and full moons, making us aware of our true priorities, as well as signaling major beginnings and endings. The third of seven exact squares will form between Uranus and Pluto, reminding us that we are in the midst of transformative changes for ourselves and the world.  Beginning in mid-April, the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars gradually entered a slower, mellower pace as they moved from Aries to Taurus.  Along with Saturn in Scorpio, this fixed energy can bring more grounding and focus, as long as we can remain open to positive changes.

During the first week of May, we are in the last phase of the April Scorpio full moon and lunar eclipse, with a theme of healing and releasing old patterns.  It is best to focus on resolution and completion until May 9. Decisions made between eclipses can have unexpected results, while matters begun surrounding an eclipse can assume greater importance. From May 5-7, Mercury and Mars in Taurus will form a harmonious trine to Pluto in Capricorn, which increases our focus and ability to take a deeper approach in our communications and actions.  It is a good time to take positive actions leading to greater empowerment and commitment.

On May 9, the New Moon Solar Eclipse occurs at 19 Taurus 31. It is aligned with Mercury, Mars, South Node and Pallas in Taurus. Taurus themes include personal resources/finances, along with needs, desires and values. Mercury and Mars combine intellect and action to enliven communications, while Pallas provides a holistic perspective. As this is a South Node eclipse, the focus is on releasing the old (patterns, beliefs, etc.) so an upgrade can occur that leads to new beginnings.

Since this eclipse degree is opposite to last November’s eclipse, events coming up now may be related to that time period.  The Sabian symbol for this degree is “Wisps of winglike clouds streaming across the sky; the awareness of spiritual forces at work.”  The passage goes on to suggest that these clouds may also symbolize the presence of celestial beings (devas, angels) blessing and subtly revealing the direction to take.

On May 13, a Venus/Neptune square can bring deception, confusion and uncertainty affecting relationships and self-worth.  On May 13-16, the Sun and Mercury form challenging aspects to Pluto and Uranus, which can trigger disruption and issues related to power and control. Jupiter in a challenging aspect to Saturn on May 19 cautions against overextending oneself. Strive for a balance between conservation and gradual growth.

Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn form the third of seven exact squares on May 20.  Events now remind us that we are in the middle of revolutionary changes leading to breakdowns and breakthroughs in the world and our lives. There is also a need to break free of anything in the way of our independence and freedom.

The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse occurs on May 24 at 4 Sagittarius 08. Sagittarian themes highlight the seeking of truth, freedom and a broader perspective, with a focus on education, publishing, travel, philosophy and spirituality. With four planets in Gemini, there can be an overload of information and details. A challenging square to Neptune can bring deception, along with awareness about balancing head and heart. This is a North Node eclipse, which is associated with Jupiter (ruler of Sagittarius), the bringer of expansion and opportunities. The Sabian symbol keynotes for these degrees, “The explosive tendency of repressed feelings and root emotions,” and “A poised and wise approach to existence based on a clear perception of unconscious factors and their operation,” suggest new opportunities arising to develop more trust in spiritual guidance and intuition.

On May 27-28, Mercury and Venus align with expansive Jupiter in Gemini, which can bring new prosperity, growth and harmony in finances, business and relationships.  This aspect is favorable for communications of all types, including speaking, writing, networking and social functions. Be sure to make the most of this time.
June is highlighted by Mercury retrograde.  Stay tuned and blessings to all!

Mars/Pluto Brings Upsetting News for Amanda Knox

The Mars/Pluto square was exact today, bringing sudden disruption  to Amanda Knox's chart, as her trial results were overturned by Italy's highest court.  It formed a cardinal grand cross with her lunar nodes  in Aries/Libra and her Mercury/Neptune opposition in Cancer/Capricorn, bringing her back into the public eye again. The lunar nodes can be seen as points of destiny. Mars was also in aspect to Amanda's Pallas, which is an asteroid ruling justice and legal matters. In addition, Jupiter just crossed her ascendent, bringing more contacts with lawyers. Several transiting planets were clustered around Amanda's north node in Aries, which represents her highest path of growth. Aries wants to be free and independent and this ruling is a potential threat.

Changeable Uranus was also in a challenging square to her Mercury, bringing sudden and disruptive communications. It also indicates Amanda's new book, scheduled to come out in April and plans for a major TV interview. All of the upcoming lunar eclipses this year align with Amanda's chart, bringing more profound emotional changes from the continuing twists and turns of this new court ruling.  Since Saturn is transiting through her sixth house over the next few years, her health could suffer from the resulting stress. However, since Sun/Venus in Aries is also aligned with her north node, this shows that she has gained much sympathy from the public. It indicates that the eventual new court ruling will likely be in her favor.

Astrology Report for March 2013

Astrology Report for March
By Dorene Carrel

Astrology Report By Dorene is part of the monthly Planet Alert mailings.

March is a dynamic transition month, as several planets make a strong energetic shift from feminine watery Pisces to masculine fiery Aries. Mercury in Pisces remains in retrograde motion until March 17, opening us to higher visions.  Later in the month, Mars in aspect to Uranus and Pluto can bring revolutionary changes. The Vernal Equinox in Aries on March 20 marks the beginning of the astrological New Year.
We begin the month still under the February Aquarius New Moon cycle, with the humanitarian theme of working together to fulfill common goals. In these last lunar phases, we are evaluating what we have learned and preparing for the next cycle.  This is aided by a Sun/Mercury conjunction in Pisces on March 4, which facilitates contemplation and introspection.  However, as Venus also makes a challenging square to Jupiter today, we will need to watch for overextending or overloading ourselves in various ways.
The slower moving outer planets Saturn and Pluto will again form a favorable sextile aspect on March 8. Sextile aspects bring opportunities if we are willing to take some steps toward our goals. Saturn brings us the structure and stability to go deeper with transforming (Pluto) significant life areas. This aspect also occurred last December 26 and will occur again on September 20 this year.
On March 11 the New Moon occurs at 21 Pisces 24.  It’s time for new beginnings in developing our visions and intuitive awareness, along with being compassionate and sensitive. The shadow side of Pisces is being nebulous and deceptive.  This lunation aligns with both Venus and Mars, which brings in the theme of relationships, along with thinking/acting from one’s heart center.  The aspect to Ceres reminds us to strive for a higher level of care and support, without playing a victim/savior role.  The Sabian symbol for this degree, “A prophet carrying tablets of the new law is walking down the slopes of Mount Sinai,” suggests the value of bringing higher awareness into every life area.
Over the next day, Mars aligns with the Moon at the 0 Aries world degree, which can bring sudden, forceful world events and earth changes. On the personal level, unexpected changes in the family and home areas can occur due to a drive for more freedom and independence.
Mercury turns stationary direct on March 17 at 5 Pisces 37. It’s time to gradually move forward with our goals, plans and commitments, making them more concrete in our daily life.  On March 20-21, the Spring Equinox joins with Venus entering Aries to provide an ideal time for significant new beginnings.
On March 22 Mars conjuncts Uranus in Aries, which initiates a period of dynamic change. Shortly afterward, the Mars square Pluto aspect will become exact on March 26, and form a t-square pattern with Uranus.  This increases the explosive potential, which can manifest as earth changes, rebellions and/or breakthroughs of all kinds.  This pattern will be set off periodically until 2015, whenever a faster moving planet triggers the ongoing Uranus square Pluto aspect.
The Full Moon occurs on March 27 at 6 Libra 52. This lunation aligns with the above t-square pattern, along with Venus in Aries. The focus is on the Libra traits of harmony, cooperation and equality and how to balance with the Aries need for self-assertion, freedom and independence.  The Aries traits will tend to overwhelm the Libran need to maintain peace at any price. The Sabian symbols for these degrees, “A man succeeds in expressing himself simultaneously in two realms,” and “A woman feeding chickens and protecting them from the hawks,” suggest the continuing need for higher self-awareness so we can make the wisest choices for our growth at all times.
On March 31, the Sun aligns with Venus and squares Pluto.  This combination tends to bring power and control issues to the forefront.  However, a favorable aspect to Jupiter shifts the focus to a broader perspective that enables personal growth. Also, singles may meet potential new partners at this time.
April features a Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio.  Spring blessings to all!
